This serves as a formal apology addressed to Yitian Yan.

The photograph titled "Red Cardigan," displayed here, was taken of Yitian in 2014. At that time, I was exploring photography with different subjects, and Yitian graciously agreed to participate in my photoshoot. Subsequently, I included this particular photograph in my website, photo book, and exhibitions without her consent.

Over the past decade, Yitian and I have maintained a cordial relationship, meeting on several occasions. Regrettably, throughout this whole time, I never asked once for her permission to use this image that shows her body. It is the only public image of a third person in the “For Your Eyes Only” project. By failing to differentiate it from other images featuring myself, it might lead people to assume it's my own image rather than Yitian’s. I recklessly utilized the photograph without acknowledging her presence in the photo, thus encroaching upon her personal boundaries and exploiting her image rights. In doing so, I also failed her as a friend.

I deeply regret my exploitive actions and sincerely apologize for the emotional distress they have caused Yitian. In recognition of her rights and dignity, I have rename the photograph from "Red Cardigan" to “Yitian", acknowledging her presence in the photo and ownership of her body.

I am committed to learning from this mistake and ensuring that similar mistake do not occur in the future. I will take proactive measures to always seek explicit permission before using someone's image and to treat each individual's rights with the utmost respect and consideration.
